Ch/Art Member Artists are invited to submit up to 3 works of art for consideration that reflect a feeling or experience Summertime.

Juror: Jordan Bruns
J. Jordan Bruns lives and works in the Washington, DC area and has been the resident artist in the Chautauqua Tower at Glen Echo Park, Maryland for ten years. In 2004, he received BFAs in Painting and Illustration at Maryland Institute College of Art. He then went on to earn an MFA in Studio Painting at Indiana University in 2007. He currently manages and teaches at Glen Echo Park in the Chautauqua Tower (a.k.a. The Stone Tower) where his studio is also located. His work is in the public collections of Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Kaiser Permanente. Solo exhibitions include Long View Gallery (Washington, DC) and The Indiana University Art Museum (Bloomington, Indiana). His numerous group shows include “Transient Geometries” at The Antelope Valley College Art Gallery (Lancaster, California) and “Color Schooled” (Long View Gallery, Washington, DC). His work has also been exhibited in Scope Miami in 2014, Context Miami in 2017 & 2018 as well as Aqua Miami in 2019 all during Art Basel Miami. He is represented by Alida Anderson Art Projects (Potomac, MD) and his work can be seen weekends at the Stone Tower at Glen Echo Park.

Curator: Julia Westfall
Julia is the CEO of Hera Hub DC. Hera Hub DC is a business accelerator and coworking space that supports small business owners in the launch and growth of their businesses. Julia expands Hera Hub’s mission by inviting local artists to exhibit in the Hera Hub DC coworking space. Her goal is to provide a space where artist’s work can be seen and appreciated by Hera Hub members and those who attend events in their Friendship Heights location.

Since opening in 2015, Hera Hub DC has showcased the works of 119 local artists and generated over $50,000 in sales.

Key Dates:

  • Submission period: March 1-29, 2024

  • Notified of accepted work by April 15, 2024

  • Artwork dropoff: April 29- May 1,2024

  • Opening Reception: Week of May 2, 2024, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

  • Pick Up Artwork: Week of Sept. 9, 2024,

Submissions Requirements:

  • Media eligible for exhibition: Any 2-D media.

  • Number of pieces allowed: 3

  • All submissions must adhere to the theme and be appropriate for an office environment.

  • The image should be of the artwork only. Do not include the frame or mat.

  • When submitting your images, provide the following information: Title of artwork, medium, dimensions (WxL), price. Images should be labeled ArtistsName_Title_Medium_Price.jpg

  • Selected works must be framed, gallery-wrapped or professionally finished, and securely wired (No sawtooth or small loop hangers). For unframed canvases, the edges should be painted or finished.

Entry Fee: Non-refundable fee of $10 for submission of up to 3 images.
Note: The exhibit space holds approximately 35-50 works of art depending on size of the artwork accepted.

Registration is via Jot Form

Entries submitted must be original works of the artist. Hera Hub DC and Ch/Art reserve the right to refuse any submission for any reason deemed incompatible with the nature and environment of its mission or does not meet professional framing standards.

Sales: Hera Hub DC receives a 15% commission on the sales of artwork on display. Hera Hub will connect the buyer and artist to complete, negotiate and deliver the artwork from the sale. Artists will be responsible for paying sales tax and sending Hera Hub the commission fee of the final sale price. Artists will have the ability to replace the sold piece with a similar piece in the event the sale happens before the close of the show.

By submitting to this show, artists agree that entries submitted are their own work and are not in violation of any copyright, trademark or other similar laws and regulations. Artists will not hold Ch/Art or Hera Hub responsible for any loss or damage to artwork while on the property of Hera Hub. Ch/Art and Hera Hub reserve the right to reject inappropriate or improperly framed work. Artists agree to allow Ch/Art and Hera Hub to use those images in digital and print materials for promotional purposes.
